Our story
Born from stillness.
Ceelest began not with a business plan, but with a question: what does it feel like to truly be present?
The beginning
In a small New York apartment, surrounded by the noise of a city that never quiets, our founder Ceelest Voss began hand-pouring candles as a form of meditation. Each pour was deliberate. Each scent, chosen for the way it shifted the air in a room.
What started as a private ritual became something others wanted to bring into their own homes. Not just a candle — a pause. A signal to the body that the day could slow down.
What we believe
Intention
Every candle is made by hand, in small batches, with full attention to the process. We do not rush what is meant to be slow.
Material
We use only natural waxes, cotton wicks, and fragrance oils free from harmful synthetics. What you breathe matters.
Restraint
Our collection is deliberately small. We believe in fewer things, made better — objects worth keeping.
The process
Made by hand. Finished by flame.
Each Ceelest candle passes through the same unhurried sequence: fragrance blended at precise temperatures, wax poured in a single continuous motion, wicks centered and trimmed by hand. The vessel is inspected, the surface smoothed. Then it rests — sometimes for days — before it is ready.
“We make candles for people who notice the quality of light in a room.”
